"Painting Statements" >>> Marks, Music, and Words Critique

Below each of my final 5 marks are a few points that other students made about them.

I was told the dancing quote goes great with this one, they like the swirls and motion in the image, continuance is kind of created by making a circle, the clack spot in the middle is a focal point, the negative space helps it creating more attention for the swirls, and it is feminine .

I was told the goal quote went great with this painting, and I was also asked about the tool i used so i am thinking they really liked this one, they see continuance with the long line taking you off the page, and they like the cluster of lines as the focal point, they feel softness and freeness when looking at the painting.

This picture reminds them of a timeline or a bridge, neither of the quotes fit very well with the painting, There was continuance to them as their eyes continue with the timeline, this one feels more neutral to them since it has mixtures of light and dark, and they also like how i left alot of white space in the painting.

This painting associated very well with my goal quote since the drippings seems to be reaching out like goals do. There is not really a focal point here each of the dots draw you attention to them, they also did not notice any gestalt principle, and their eyes want to keep moving down the page with all of the ink drippings.

This painting went great with the dancing quote because they thought of square dancing. It was more masculine with the darker paint, and they like the small amount of white space that is left, it also looks like closure, keeping your eyes on the painting, and they can tell i used the same gesture, but with different materials.
