"Blow POP" >>> Inflatopia Process

Friday in class, we blew our inflatble up for the first time. It loooked just like I thought it would...a mushroom. But thats because our "buttons" have not been added yet! Sohopefully next time their will be more room to go inside in.
We began blowing it up
And our hose was very filled with air, maybe a little too much. The front of our inflatble totally ripped!!! :( But we patched it and its good to go.
And theresa inside of it. After the buttons their will be much more room.
Honestly, I am a bit worried about our inflatable. But We have a really good gorup, so we WILL be able to solve our problems and create a masterpiece :)

"Feel The Wind" >>> Visual Haiku Process

I began working on my atmospherical backgrounds. I am really loving my color palette. I love dark warm colors! I have been using a bunch of sifferent methods, but I think I might do some at home....maybe I will work better again! But i am trying to make a tree like background and also have a little bit of a windy effect to it. They seem to be going farely well!

"Stencil Me In" >>> Visual Haiku Process

I have also been working on my stenciled haikus. The stencils took forever to make, but I ended up with about five different ones. I have yet to use spray paint on them, that will be tomorrow. Im using manilla paper, the coor goes great with my color pallete!
I will definetley hold on to my stencils. Maybe place them in my book, who knows I might be stenciling a bird again soon!
I have one more stencil to make, but actually a sponge. It seems like it might last a little longer!

"Older Things" >>> Inflatopia Process

After i made my previous post for the inflatable, i found some more interesting pictures on Theresa's blog. so again all these pictures are from her!!!! I'm glad she takes sooo many pictures!

this is the model for our inflatable.

and then we changed to this design, but went back to the original idea. soo many decisions in this project!

testing iron with the plastic. you have to be super steady.

and the scraps from the sides of the inflatable. Theresa and I rounded all of the corners.

amanda making a hole to place the leaf blower.

"Finding Our Sweet Spots" >>> Inflatopia Process

**all photos courtesy of theresa**

our inflatable seems to be going as planned still. we have more work than i was thinking we did, but our team is working very well together, so we should be fine!! And everyone on the team has found at least one thing they are the master at. I guess mine was creating the logo, but definitely not ironing...irons and plastic don't seem to like me very much :(

team xxit while working on the last seams of the inflatable

turning it inside out....well right side in i guess it would be??

the plastics melted into each other, so amanda dove in to save the day

ironing the plastic together is taking a very long time!!

And we were done for the day!! many more days to come!

"Where The Caged Bird Sings" >>> Visual Haiku Process

I began thinking how I want to do my books for this project, and I decided to end up with a total of three. Heres some of my black and white doves using form and gesture drawings. I made a whole bunch of dove gestures in class a few days ago, but there is nothing like doing my work at home. I came up with many different ideas, and was able to use many more objects to make marks. Its nice and quiet and I don't get distracted, which is why i think home is the best place for me to work!!

and speaking of home.....while I was on a trip to hobby lobby I came across this painting. I loved the idea of painting. Its burlab on canvas. I am thinking about using this idea somewhere for my haiku projects! :)

the dove i am using on ALL of my paintings

And here are some of my new gesture doves. And yes i know the picture is not rotated. I had to upload these pictures onto my home home computer and forgot to rotate them. PCs are much more confusing now that i always use my mac, so I left them sideways, its adds some flair! And I got to use a variety of kitchen supplies!

Here are some of my freshly made doves again. Just planning out what I am hoping this book will look like.

"Cuts and Measures" >>> Inflatopia Process

Our inflatable project is coming along very good. We have cut out every wall and ironed together just about every seam. We only have a few things left to do, probably about half way done so far. We still need to flip the inflatable so the seams are on the inside, and iron together some more seams to make the actual walls.

We also began the layout of our flyers, and the 3D logo is next on the list!
