In class today we discussed many things in our lecture. We learned about Dada and Surrealism art. Below is some of my basic notes:
Dada: political anti art, communist anarchist, German Swiss
1916 Cabaiet Voltaire opens Zurich Switzerland
1919 Berlin Dada club founded
Surrealism: French
1925 First Surrealist Exhibit in Paris
In the afternoon we began on our new project: Marks, Music, and Words. I really like this project so far. I love being free with my objects and just paint away while feeling the music. This is a picture of my favorite sketch that i did today. I was having difficulties for a while though, my india ink was clogged and the paint did not want to come out :( But i finally got it unclogged, and it began to work good right as we cleaned up. Oh well, its ready for thursday!
Thursday Lecture #8:
Today in lecture we discussed abstract expressionism. I loved the clip about the laser graffiti on large objects. I think that would be amazing to see in real life. I have never heard of anything like this before. So i was stunned when i saw it. Critiquing the dot projects was very interesting, i liked to see the way each group approached their dots.
